Start as you mean to go on

Today we travelled 14000kms from Adelaide to Melbourne to Los Angeles. .  Easy, all one has to do is start the day with a champers or six in the Q Club.  No matter that it is 6:30 am.  The next stage is not so easy - sit with 450 of one's new best friends in the Qantas A380 for 14 hours.

Some of our new best friends are challenged in airline bathroom etiquette.  Light a match folks (its only smoking that is not allowed!)

However all good things come to an end and on landing in LA at 7:00 am after 14 hours squished with ones new best friends one feels pretty good - for about 5 mins.

The joy of discovering the pool at the airport hotel just one mile from the airport is made better by realising it is directly under the landing path of the really noisy flights....all day....every 30 seconds.....all night......
What we have learned about USA on our first day here - Seven Eleven supermarkets sell wine, California cabernet for $4.99.  The ambience of quaffing it by the evening pool is only marginally offset by Alitalia 50 metres overhead.  We learned that American Police cars carry surfboards - and that soda does not jerk - it bubbles!

.

Summary of today's journey - long flight over ocean, arrived into really big city of  LA.
Hotel dodgy but near enough to Seven Eleven to forgive any dodginess.
LA is all good.
